Warrior Queen

“The Warrior Queen” by Collins Abinoro, a Nigerian artist with a speciality in stainless steel cutlery, fibreglass and bronze.

Inspired by the fragments of the society he captures moment that tells tales, patterns and issues of life. In this sculpture he tilted “Warrior Queen” is Idia the mother of Esigie, the Oba of Benin who ruled from 1504 to 1550. She played a significant role in the rise and reign of her son, is described as a great warrior who fought relentlessly before and during her son’s reign as the Oba of the Edo people.
